Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

US entertainer Finn, who was seen in beloved TV shows like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles this Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a message.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a party host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

The actor was seen in two episodes of Friends as character Monica's partner a doctor named Roger.

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted on social media.

Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
